Kazi Salahuddin filed a writ to remove defamatory information from online
A writ has been filed in the High Court seeking directions to remove false and defamatory information in the public domain about Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salauddin. Salahuddin's lawyer Mohammad Saifullah Mamun conveyed the information on Tuesday (June 13). He said the writ was filed on June 12. The writ may be heard in a High Court bench comprising Justice Zafar Ahmed and Md. Bashir Ullah.
In the petition, why should the Home Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Secretary and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) not be directed to take necessary steps to protect the dignity and privacy of Kazi Salahuddin as fundamental rights and to prevent him (Salhuddin) from creating and spreading defamatory and false information? A request has been made to issue a rule seeking to know why preventive measures will not be taken.
At the same time, a request has been made to issue a rule to find out why the necessary steps will not be taken as per the law to ensure the proper implementation of the National Broadcasting Policy-2014.
Pending consideration of this rule, directions are sought to Home Secretary and BTRC to remove defamatory and false information about Kazi Salahuddin in public domain. At the same time, an injunction has been sought to refrain from spreading defamatory and false information about Kazi Salahuddin in the future.
In the writ, Home Ministry Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Ekattor TV, Sports Incharge of Ekattor TV Ehsan Mahmud, Jugantar Senior Sports Journalist Mozammel Haque Chanchal, Global Sports Coordinator Shakeel Mahmud Chowdhury, Nilphamari District Football Association President Arif Hossain Moon, Ekattor TV sports journalist Mehdi Naim, Partha Vanik, Mahmudul Hasan Sajib, Arnab Bappi, Ehtesham Sabuj, Mehdi Hasan, Fahim Hasan, Riyasad Azim, Kahinur Kana, and Supreme Court lawyer Syed Syedul Haque Sumon have been made defendants.
